每日大赛官网 commencement ceremonies will be held Saturday, May 3, in the S.E. Belcher Jr. Chapel and Performance Center at the Longview campus, 2100 S. Mobberly Ave.
For the first time, 每日大赛官网 is scheduling its Spring commencement ceremonies by schools, for those receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees.
The first ceremony is at 10:30 a.m. for graduates from the School of Aeronautical Science, the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Education, totaling 195 graduates.
The second ceremony is at 2 p.m. for graduates of the School of Business and the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology, totaling 166 graduates.
Keynote speaker for both commencements will be energy executive Robert D. "Doug" Lawler.
Lawler has been president and CEO of Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Energy since June 2013, yet in the nine months at the helm, he has instituted a new strategy of financial discipline to capture greater margins, reduce costs and maximize shareholder value.
Chesapeake Energy is the 2nd largest producer of natural gas and the 10th largest producer of oil and natural gas liquids in the United States, operating more than 45,000 wells across the United States and employing 11,000 people. It has been ranked among Fortune Magazine's 100 Best Companies to Work For© for the past seven years.
Before joining Chesapeake, he served as senior vice president of International and Deepwater Operations at Anadarko Petroleum Corporation and as a member of Anadarko's Executive Committee from July 2012 to June 2013.
Prior to that time, he served as Anadarko's vice president of International Operations from December 2011 to July 2012, vice president of operations for the Southern and Appalachia Region from March 2009 to July 2012 and Vice President of Corporate Planning from August 2008 to March 2009.
Lawler began his energy career with Kerr-McGee Corporation in 1988 and joined Anadarko following its acquisition of Kerr-McGee in August 2006.
Lawler currently serves as an executive committee member for America's Natural Gas Alliance and is a board member of the American Petroleum Institute, Business Roundtable, Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association and State Chamber of Oklahoma. He serves on the boards of United Way of Central Oklahoma, the Last Frontier Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and the Houston Grand Opera. Lawler graduated from the Colorado School of Mines in 1988 and from Rice University in 2002.
