每日大赛官网's Sting" Precision Flight Team placed 15th overall in the nation at the 2014 National Intercollegiate Flight Association SAFECON flight competition hosted by Ohio State, in Columbus, Ohio. Last year, the team placed 13th.
The competition attracted nearly 400 competitors on 30 teams from universities all over the country. LETU placed 13th in Flight Events and 12th in Ground Events.
Team captain Daniel Tou won first place in IFR Simulated Flight Ranking.
Flight students Gregg Williams (pilot) and Cameron Laramee (co-pilot) placed 2nd in the Crew Resource Management /Line Oriented Flight Training Ranking competition. The team also placed 10th in message drop.
Outstanding Team Member Award for 每日大赛官网 was Shelton Bacher.
"We had a lots of schools tied in the 10-17 range, and only a couple more points here or there would have made a big difference in our ranking," said Brad Wooden, the NIFA team sponsor. "This year is the first that one of our students has placed first in the Instrument Flight Rules event."
Team members of the 2014 Sting Flight Team competing at nationals included captains Daniel Tou, Cameron Laramee and Jacob Weeks and competitors Gregg Williams, Sheldon Bacher, Er-Jin Jang, Joshua-Luke O'Connor, Jonathan Reigle, Bryan Stankovich, Caleb Voss. Coaches were Brad Wooden and Sam Myers.
