[ARCHIVED NEWS RELEASE]
09-09-2014
每日大赛官网 has again ranked in the top tier of the national 2015 U.S. News and World Report's annual rankings of "America's Best Colleges."
LETU is ranked 27th among all the universities in its category of "Best Regional Universities in the Western Region" for 2015, mirroring last year's ranking of 27th in 2014, which was up from 36th in 2013 and 39th in 2012. It's the 21st year the university has been included in the top tier.
LETU ranked above all public universities in Texas in its category, and ranked 6th among Texas independent universities.
The rankings, which include nearly 1,800 schools nationwide, are available at www.usnews.com/colleges beginning today, Sept. 9. The guide will be available in print on newsstands Sept. 23.
U.S. News ranks colleges and universities among other schools with similar programs and degree offerings. Indicators used to determine the rankings include academic reputation, retention, faculty, class sizes, SAT and ACT scores of incoming freshmen, average graduation rates and assessments by administrators at other peer universities. U.S. News rankings are released each fall and are considered the most notable of the annual published college rankings.
"To rank 27 out of 120 similar universities in the West, a region that spans from Texas to Alaska, says much about the quality of the faculty and staff serving at LETU," said LETU President Dr. Dale A. Lunsford. "To have been ranked in the top tier of the region for 21 consecutive years is a credit to leadership past and present at LETU. Our engineering program continues to climb in the rankings of the nation's engineering programs. And these gains are happening while the university remains committed to being a good value for students. We are ranked even higher when one considers the price paid by students for the academic quality received."
LETU was also ranked 13th among "Great Schools, Great Prices," among Regional Universities in the Western Region. This ranking was calculated based on academic quality and the 2013-14 net cost of attendance for students receiving average levels of need-based financial aid, U.S. News said.
In the 2015 U.S. News' "Best Engineering Programs in the United States" ranking, LETU's engineering school moved up to 41st, from last year's ranking of 45th and its 2012 ranking of 57th among ABET-accredited engineering schools in the nation whose highest degree is a bachelor's or master's degree. LETU was ranked 3rd among other Texas engineering programs like Baylor University and Trinity University, and ranked ahead of all public Universities in Texas that do not offer a Ph.D.
"The ranking strongly affirms LeTourneau as one of 'America's Best Engineering Schools' and shows us as the top-ranked school of engineering within the CCCU (Council of Christian Colleges and Universities)," said LETU Dean of Engineering Dr. Ron DeLap.
LETU was also listed among "A+ Schools for B Students," an alphabetized list of schools where students who were not "A" students in high school, but displayed spirit and hard work, can thrive.
"We want our students to succeed in the classroom and graduate," said LETU Provost Dr. Philip A. Coyle. "We provide many different academic support services all focused on equipping students to achieve their goals."
LETU has added over $50 million in campus facilities in recent years, including its new Allen Family Student Center to provide a distinctive Christian university experience for students.
This past year, LETU launched a new School of Nursing to offer the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, and the School of Business launched a new graduate degree, the Master of Engineering Management (MEM). LETU flight students won top honors at regional competition, an LETU education major was named the Texas Student Teacher of the Year, the university won an interdisciplinary Keck grant to study human mobility, and LeTourneau engineering faculty members won an NSF early career grant to study the use of lasers for cancer detection/diagnosis. The engineering program also added a new clean room for microelectronic fabrication as well as a new, 7,200-square-foot engineering building, housing a state-of-the-art wind tunnel, and a design studio which will become a maker space for students and the community.
