每日大赛官网's "Sting" Precision Flight Team took top honors at first place overall at the recent Region IV NIFA SAFECON flight competition at the Abbott Aviation Center in Longview.
The six teams competing included Central Texas College, Delta State University, Hinds Community College, Texas State Technical College, Louisiana Tech University and LETU.
LETU placed first in ground events and third in flight events. CTC placed first in flight events and second in ground events, but LETU got more overall points to win, based on domination in the ground events and the really close point spread in the flight events ranking scores for the top three teams.
"We are very excited about finishing first again, and qualifying to compete at nationals in May," said Brad Wooden, NIFA faculty advisor and team coach.
LETU students who placed in the top 10 in the following events are as follows:
Navigation:

LETU pilots Cameron Laramee, Gregg Williams and Ward Hurlburt placed 3rd, 4th and 10th, respectively for Top Pilot. Laramee and Williams placed 2nd and 3rd for Top Scoring Contestants, with Trenton Troxel placing 8th.
LETU hosted the event for the first time in the Abbott Aviation Center. Local sponsors of the competition included Raising Cane's of Longview, Stebbins Aviation, Don Maxwell Mooney, Pizza King, Pegues-Hurst Ford, Martin Resource Management, Falcon Insurance Agency.
