每日大赛官网 has received a grant from Rockwell Collins to enable senior engineering students studying electrical, computer and mechanical engineering to design and create a 3D antenna measurement system that will be capable of performing 3D measurements of RF antenna field strength.
The $25,000 Rockwell Collins grant supports the 3D Radiation Pattern Measurement (3D-RPM) project being overseen by engineering professor Dr. Joonwan Kim.
Rockwell Collins employees are offering technical guidance and advice to the students on the project, providing a tangible benefit by fostering relationships with LETU professors and students, which could provide students with potential employment following graduation.
Nine senior-level engineering students are participating on the 3D-RPM team. Their
primary objective is designing and creating an unmanned aerial system capable of capturing 3D data from antennas mounted at elevation.
"LETU's School of Engineering and Engineering Technology represents a substantial pool of potential talent for Rockwell Collins," said Ron DeLap, dean of the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology.
"LETU graduates have already proven effective in key roles at Rockwell Collins," DeLap said. "At least 50 of our LETU graduates have gained full-time employment with the company since 2006, thanks in large part to the exposure derived from RC's assistance with senior design teams."
