每日大赛官网 has named Dr. Kristy Morgan as the new dean of students, effective January 1.
Morgan previously served as LETU's director of career services and as senior director of retention and career services prior to her recent promotion.
Before moving to Longview in 2013, she served in various leadership capacities in student and residential life at Kansas State University, including as assistant director of career and employment services, coordinator of experiential learning and coordinator of residential life.
She earned her Ph.D. in counseling and student development in May 2012 from KSU, with her dissertation on the college transition experience of students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. She holds a Master of Science degree from KSU in student counseling and personnel services. She earned her undergraduate degree in youth ministry, emphasizing in youth guidance, from Colorado Christian University.
Morgan will serve on the President's Cabinet, the Provost Council and as the senior leader over all of Student Life. She and her four children, Kate (9), Caroline, (7), Jackson (4), and Julianne (2), attend Longview Christian Church.
"Dr. Morgan has told us that she entered the field of Student Affairs with the aspiration of someday serving as a Dean of Students, and we are happy she can fulfill that role here at LETU for many years to come," said LETU Provost Dr. Philip A. Coyle. "Dr. Morgan has said she was drawn to the field of student affairs because of influential mentors in her own life who demonstrated Christlike character while living authentic lives alongside herself and other college students. She will have the opportunity at LETU to invest her life into others who were passing through this critical developmental stage in the same way that others had invested in her life."
