每日大赛官网's School of Aeronautical Science is hosting its third annual aircraft-themed art show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, through Friday, Feb. 20, in the Abbott Aviation Center, located at 11450 FM 349 near the East Texas Regional Airport in Longview. The exhibition will be free and open to the public.
Anyone interested in entering their own aviation-themed artwork is encouraged to submit it no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13. Officials of the art show reserve the right not to display material they deem inappropriate. Two categories include "Aviation Photography" and "Aviation Paintings or Sketches." The public will judge each item, with prizes given to the top three winners in each category.
Art can include aircraft of all categories, people involved in aviation-related activities, air traffic control, aircraft maintenance, aviation weather, airports, in flight and people being served by the aviation industry, aviation missions or commercial transport. Only "flat" artwork, photography, paintings and sketches qualify and must be mounted or laminated to mounting board, canvas, metal or other mounting systems. Artwork in frames will not be accepted. Minimum canvas size is 8" x 10" and maximum is 30"x28". All submissions must be new to the art show and cannot be art submitted in previous years. Altered images using Photoshop, Lightroom, HDR, panoramas, color and black and white are all acceptable.
Artwork must be delivered to the Abbott Aviation Center before the deadline and must be picked up at the same location at the end of the exhibit. Each contestant can only submit a limit of six (6) pieces of art.
"We hope this year's show will be bigger and better than last year's event," said organizer Phil Rispin.
