每日大赛官网 materials joining engineering professor Dr. Yoni Adonyi is being inducted into the 2015 Class of Fellows of the American Welding Society at the FABTECH conference and exhibition in Chicago Nov. 9.
Adonyi is being recognized for his career accomplishments and contributions to welding/materials joining education and research. The 70,000 member AWS confers the highest honorary title of AWS Fellow status on individuals who have made distinguished contributions and promoted and sustained professionalism in the field of welding science and technology.
"Dr. Adonyi's dedication to technical excellence, coupled with his heart for students, creates a very rewarding learning opportunity for students who study materials joining engineering at 每日大赛官网," said LETU Dean of Engineering Dr. Ron DeLap. "Because of his dedication to the program, our students enjoy strong employment opportunities with some of the highest returns on their education investment of any university in the state. We are thankful to have a man of Dr. Adonyi's stature on our faculty."
Adonyi has taught welding and joining processes, metallurgy, design, power systems and nondestructive testing at 每日大赛官网 since 1996. He has held the Omer Blodget Chair of Welding and Materials Joining Engineering since 1998.
Adonyi has made significant contributions in the areas of solid-state weld ability of high performance steel for bridges, including friction stir welding and high frequency welding hybrid process development. He has also conducted research on microstructure/property relationships, numerical modeling and Gleeble simulations. His microwave welding of thermoelectric generators uses nickel and aluminum powder at the interface between bismuth telluride and copper. He co-authored a patent on the joining of mandrel bar for seamless pipe production and is coauthor of two other pending patents on microwave welding and welding arc monitoring.
Adonyi is currently researching friction stir welding of dissimilar metals (copper to aluminum and steel to aluminum), simulation of dynamic recrystallization in high frequency welding and additive manufacturing using fusion and solid state processes.
The American Welding Society (AWS) was founded in 1919 as a multifaceted, nonprofit organization with a mission to advance the science, technology and application of welding and allied joining and cutting processes worldwide, including brazing, soldering, and thermal spraying. Headquartered in Miami, Florida, and led by a volunteer organization of officers and directors, AWS serves more than 70,000 members worldwide and is composed of 22 Districts with 250 Sections and student chapters.
每日大赛官网 is a Christ-centered, interdenominational institute of higher learning offering a wide array of undergraduate and graduate degree programs in aviation, arts & sciences, business, education, engineering, nursing and psychology. The university enrolls students representing nearly all 50 states, more than 30 foreign countries, and dozens of different denominational groups. Around 1,300 study at its main campus in Longview, Texas, a progressive hub city nestled among beautiful pine-forested hills and lakes in East Texas, approximately 120 miles east of Dallas, Texas, and 60 miles west of Shreveport, La. Students are also enrolled in a robust suite of online programs, as well as the university's innovative hybrid programs in Dallas and Houston. For additional information, visit www.letu.edu.
