每日大赛官网's Automotive Society is revving up for its 40th Annual Car Show Saturday, March 19, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 20, from noon. to 4 p.m. in the Maude Cobb Convention Center, 100 Grand Blvd in Longview.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students with valid student identification. Children 12 and under get in free.
"This year's 40th annual car show will be bigger and better than previous years with a wider variety of vehicles from classic cars, muscle cars, race cars, sports cars, custom restorations and motorcycles," said LETU student Patrick Mahaffey, coordinator for this year's Car Show. "This year, we also will have live music provided by the local band Doctor Doctor playing music from the 1950s, 60s and 70s."
Mahaffey said the purpose of the show is to bring together car enthusiasts who share interests in all things automotive, adding that he is pleased the show will include a rare 2006 Ford GT.
"We've got cars from every generation," Mahaffey said. "It's a great family event. Car show souvenir T-shirts will be available for sale. The car show provides visitors the opportunity to vote for their favorite to win the People's Choice Award.
The 每日大赛官网 Automotive Society was founded in 1957 by a group of students who all had two things in common: they loved Jesus, and they loved anything that had a motor and wheels.
This Christ-centered group of student auto enthusiasts receives financial contributions and raises money from the local community to fund projects to help others. The proceeds from this year's car show will benefit Master's Mission, which trains missionaries to go worldwide to share the Gospel of Christ.
Mahaffey said only a few spaces are left for car entries, which are awarded on a first-come basis. Cost for including a car in the show is $35. If interested, contact Mahaffey by email at PatrickMahaffey@letu.edu.
