PERFORMANCE SERIES
· 7:30 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016 - The Oak Ridge Boys-sponsored by East man Chemical Company, the Merritt and Barbee families
The Oak Ridge Boys have recorded dozens of country music hits and a number one pop smash, earned them Grammy, Dove, CMA, and ACM awards, and garnered a host of other industry and fan accolades. Every time they step before an audience, they bring four decades of charted singles, and 50 years of tradition, to a stage show widely acknowledged as among the most exciting anywhere. And each remains as enthusiastic about the process as they have ever been.
Their string of hits includes the country-pop chart-topper Elvira, as well as Bobbie Sue, Dream On, Thank God For Kids, American Made, I Guess It Never Hurts To Hurt Sometimes, Fancy Free, Gonna Take A Lot Of River and many others. In 2009, they covered a White Stripes song, receiving accolades from rock music reviewers. The group has scored 12 gold, three platinum, and one double platinum album-plus one double platinum single-and has more than a dozen national number one singles and over 30 Top Ten hits.
· 7:30 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 - An Evening with C.S. Lewis-sponsored by Carol and Richard Manley
The year is 1963 and CS Lewis, the famous British author, is hosting a group of American writers at his home near Oxford. They are about to experience a captivating evening with a man whose engaging conversation and spontaneous humor made him one of the great raconteurs of his day.
Seated in his living room and in front of a warm fire, he recalls the people and events that inspired his thought and shaped his life: his friendship with J. R. R. Tolkien, why he nearly abandoned the Narnia Chronicles, how he came to embrace Christianity, and the American woman who turned his life upside down.
David Payne's performance in "An Evening with C.S. Lewis" has proved again and again to be an enthralling theatrical experience and one which has led many thousands to discover, or rediscover, the continuing impact of a man who died over 50 years ago and whose collected works made him one of the literary giants of the 20th Century.
· 7:30 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 - Chubby Checker - sponsored by Longview Regional Medical Center, Pelaia Law Firm
In 2 minutes & 42 seconds, chubby checker revolutionized popular culture and changed the music business forever. When he appeared on American Bandstand in 1960 and performed "The Twist," it was the dawn of a new era in Rock and Roll.
Dancing apart to the beat was born and teenagers found a new way to express themselves. Chubby stands alone as a one of a kind Rock and Roll icon, who has had 36 hit records, is the only artist to have a single go to #1 twice, and-according to Billboard-has the #1 single for the whole decade of the 1960's.
Chubby was awarded the first platinum single, the first rock Grammy and has sold an astounding 250 million records over the years. That's why Dick Clark said: "The three most important things that ever happened in the music industry are Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and Chubby Checker."
· 7:30 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017 - Colin and Brad of "Whose Line is it Anyway?"-sponsored by Southside Bank
Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood-stars of the Emmy-nominated "Whose Line Is It Anyway?"-have teamed up to present an evening of extraordinary improvisational comedy. Using their quick wit, Colin and Brad take suggestions from the audience to create hilarious and original scenes, just like a live version of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" Throughout the evening, the show becomes truly interactive as audience members are called to the stage to participate in the fun.
· 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017 - Humorist Jeanne Robertson -sponsored by Texas Bank and Trust
Jeanne Robertson is a professional speaker who specializes in hilarious humor based on her life experiences. Speaking to thousands of people annually, she utilizes her positively funny style to illustrate that a sense of humor is much more than a laughing matter. It is a strategy for success. Jeanne Robertson is funny. She also knows that her job is far more than being funny.
Her message is that a sense of humor is an attitude, an approach toward working with people. She believes that this humor attitude can be developed and improved, and she outlines how to do so while captivating audiences with funny, original stories.
"We took note of Jeanne Robertson when she was here in April 2014 and sold the place out," Hellen said. "She has a huge following and, since this is to be her last tour, she will no doubt sell out again."
· 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017 - Adam Trent, The Futurist -sponsored by Longview News-Journal
Adam Trent has been described as "Justin Timberlake meets David Copperfield." Trent is taking the magic world by storm, blending dancing and singing to his own original pop music with innovative stage illusions, charming wit, and emotion to create an experience that is part magic show, part concert, and part stand-up comedy.
Although he is young, Trent already has a resume that many older professionals would envy. Not only is he one of the youngest international award winning magicians in history, U.S. News & World Report magazine identified him as one of "The 10 Most Influential Youths in the Nation." He is a self-taught performer who is touted by some of today's greatest magicians as being a genius headed straight for stardom.
A 16-year veteran of magic and stage performance, Trent truly knows how to appeal to all age groups, entertaining internationally at venues ranging from cruise ships, colleges, comedy clubs, theatres, and most recently as one of the stars of The Illusionists on Broadway. Having performed over 250 shows in 19 different countries during the last year alone, he is rapidly shattering the stereotype of the typical magician.

The hour-long staged adaptation brings a fresh appreciation of the stories and images that have delighted several generations.

Suddenly the rainy afternoon is transformed by the Cat and his antics. Will their house ever be the same? Can the kids clean up before mom comes home? With some tricks (and a fish) and Thing Two and Thing One, with the Cat in The Hat, the fun's never done! Dr. Seuss' beloved storybook character has come to the right place when he takes the stage in this adaptation by Childsplay.
SPECIAL EVENT
· 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017, Celtic Woman-sponsored by Marge and Tom Dome, Henry & Peters, PC
Celtic Woman first rose to acclaim with an energetic stage show that shared much in common with similarly minded productions like Riverdance, whose music director, David Downes, was the driving force behind Celtic Woman's formation in 2004.
The group's first performance was filmed by PBS in 2004 and broadcast one year later, accompanied by a wildly popular CD and DVD. Although intended to be the group's only release, the album climbed to the top of the Billboard World Music chart and stayed there for a record-setting 81 weeks, thus setting the stage for Celtic Woman's long career.
每日大赛官网 offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs across a range of disciplines and delivery models at LETU's residential campus in Longview, Texas, and in hybrid and fully online options at centers in Dallas, Houston and McKinney. For additional information, visit www.letu.edu.
