LETU Welcomes Two New, Two Returning Trustees

每日大赛官网 has named two new members Phil Burks of Tyler and Mike Schutt of Mount Pleasant, to its Board of Trustees. The trustees are elected for four-year terms. Returning to the board for a new four-year term are two previous trustees Loren Leman of Alaska, and Jim Mauldin of Longview.

Phil Burks is the CEO and founder of The Genesis Group, a communications industry service company he founded with his wife, Bobbi. The company provides software that helps manage and operate giant, two-way radio and public safety communications networks. With about 60 employees in an ultra-modern advanced technology building in Tyler, Texas, Burks also has offices in the United Kingdom and affiliates in Australia and Mexico. He is a 1974 electrical engineering technology graduate of LETU.

Mike Schutt is the director of Law Student Ministries for the Christian Legal Society and directs the Institute for Christian Legal Studies, a cooperative ministry of CLS and Regent University School of Law, where Schutt serves as an associate professor and recruiter. An honors graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, Schutt has practiced law with Thompson and Knight in Fort Worth. Today he is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Christian Legal Thought and author of Redeeming Law: Christian Calling and the Legal Profession, published by InterVarsity Press in 2007. Today he writes, teaches and speaks on the relationship of law, faith and culture. He and his wife, Lisa, live in Mt. Pleasant.

Returning to the board are Loren Leman of Alaska and Jim Mauldin of Longview.

Loren Leman is a former lieutenant governor for the state of Alaska. He currently works as the vice president of Michael L. Foster & Associates. His professional career has covered engineering, public service and resource development, among others. His political career in the state of Alaska began as a state representative from 1989-1993. From 1993-2002, Loren was a state senator until he became the Alaska Lieutenant Governor from 2002-2006. Additionally, he is an engineering consultant and fisherman. Loren has served on many government, community and church boards, as well as committees and task forces. As a native Alaskan, he has worked as a commercial salmon fisherman since 1959. His late daughter, Nicole, was a graduate of LETU.

Dr. Jim Mauldin is a native of East Texas, having graduated from Baylor University with his undergraduate degree in biology in 1977, then Baylor College of Medicine with board certification in obstetrics and gynecology in 1981. He opened his practice in Longview in 1985 after completing his residency training that same year at Baylor affiliated hospitals in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. He was a solo practitioner until 2005 when he became an associate of a multispecialty group practice at Diagnostic Clinic of Longview, PA. He is experienced in handling the medical needs of women, including tailored bio-identical hormone therapy to correct deficiencies in menopausal women. He has taught Sunday school classes at Fellowship Bible Church and Christian parenting classes in home groups. He has served as president of the Longview Coalition on Adolescent Pregnancy. He has served on the board of trustees of Christian Heritage School. He served as chief of ObGyn service at Good Shepherd Medical Center and Longview Regional Hospital. He has served as a member of the Christian Heritage School. He and his wife Maureen have five children.

LETU BOARD OFFICERS RE-ELECTED
Pat Bertsche of St.Charles, Ill., is the president of Matrix Design, L.L.C. He has been re-elected chair for 2016-2017. He earned his industrial management degree from LETU in 1989 and has been involved with financial management, strategic planning and business operations. He has most recently served as the superintendent of the Westminster Christian School where he formerly served as board president. Prior to his work with Westminster, he served as vice president of operations at Camcraft, Inc.

Larry Mercer of Cedar Hill, Texas, was re-elected vice chair. Mercer has served on the LETU board since 2000. His work experience has included interaction with the public school system, adult prison system, local church ministry, juvenile justice system and Christian higher education. Prior to his current position, he was the president of Washington Bible College/Capitol Bible Seminary and senior vice president for media and church ministries at Moody Bible Institute. He earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from East Carolina University and a master of theology in pastoral ministries and doctor of ministry in education from Dallas Theological Seminary. He speaks at churches and Christian conferences around the country and has authored one book on Christian parenting.

Paul Montgomery was elected treasurer. He is the director of portfolio research and a portfolio manager at Scotia Partners, LLC, an investment consulting company in Spring City, Penn., he owns with his son. A businessman and entrepreneur who has built and sold several businesses, he has extensive experience in finance and fiscal responsibilities, investments, personal financial planning, business and entrepreneurship, and in supporting ministry organizations in various ways. A psychology graduate of King's College, Montgomery has served for numerous years on the board of directors of a church planting and missionary organization Crossworld, originally called Unevangelized Fields Mission (UFM), which began in 1931 sending missionaries to the Congo to change lives through Christ. He and his wife, Carolyn, have traveled on mission trips to Europe, Brazil and Haiti. They are active in their church and are renovating their 18th century farmhouse.

Merle Stoltzfus of Elverson, Penn., was elected secretary. He is a general partner for Stoltzfus Enterprises, Ltd., a custom home builder and real estate developer. Stoltzfus has served in revitalization efforts and transportation advisory committees in his hometown area. He graduated from LETU in 1971 with a degree in electrical engineering technology and has served on the LETU board since 1997, serving previously as chair and as treasurer. Two of his daughters attended LETU.
