每日大赛官网 has named Dr. Steven K. Starrett as its new Dean of Engineering and Engineering Technology, following a national search. Starrett's new role begins effective July 1, 2017
"Dr. Starrett is a leader in both engineering practice and education," said LETU President Dr. Dale A. Lunsford. "Well respected within the American Society of Civil Engineers for his expertise in water and environmental concerns, he has served in leadership roles at Kansas State University over the past two decades. He writes and teaches internationally on ethics in engineering. Dr. Starrett is an excellent choice to lead the premier engineering program in Christian higher education."
Starrett serves as president of the Environmental and Water Resources Institute, one of the largest technical institutes of the ASCE with 20,000 members. He is a fellow of the ASCE and a fellow of the ASCE Environmental and Water Resources Institute.
He has been recognized by the National Academy of Engineering for providing an exemplar course in engineering ethics and he has also taught engineering ethics workshops internationally through ASCE events in Ecuador, Canada, Hawaii and Sri Lanka.
He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers and a member of the Missouri University of Science and Technology Academy of Civil Engineers.
His research interests include engineering ethics and he has participated in research projects funded by the National Science Foundation focused on graduate engineering and science programs. Starrett along with his co-authors Dr. Amy Lara and Dr. Carlos Bertha have recently completed a new book entitled, "Engineering Ethics: Real World Case Studies."
Starrett has experience as an expert witness in numerous legal cases related to water resources issues including erosion control, flooding, hydraulics, groundwater and surface water hydrology and siltation. Starrett is a licensed professional engineer in the states of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
Starrett has served at Kansas State University for the past 22 years in faculty and administrative roles, including his current role as director of K-State's university-wide Honor and Integrity System. He also is the undergraduate program director and an associate professor of civil engineering.
Starrett said he is looking forward to his new role at LETU.

Starrett earned his Bachelor of Science in 1989 in Civil Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology. He completed his Master of Science degree in Water Resources Engineering in 1992 from Iowa State University and his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering in 1994 from Iowa State University.
He and his wife, Shelli, have three children. They are active members of the Faith Evangelical Free Church of Manhattan, Kansas.
Dr. Shelli Starrett is an accomplished engineering professor who also will teach engineering courses at LETU. A former recipient of an NSF CAREER grant, Shelli is currently an associate professor at Kansas State University. She earned her Ph.D. in electrical power engineering from Iowa State University in 1994, after having completed her Master of Science and her Bachelor of Science degrees in electrical engineering from University of Missouri-Rolla in 1990 and 1988, respectively.
The Starretts enjoy country living, and playing bluegrass and gospel music.
