LETU Reopens Houston Location Following Harvey

[ARCHIVED NEWS RELEASE]

09-05-2017

每日大赛官网 reopened its Houston location today, Tuesday, Sept. 5, after closing for a week following Hurricane Harvey. Although the Houston site did not flood, the university recognizes that some faculty, staff and students may not be able to get to the site or even get out of their respective areas to travel. As a result, LETU will be flexible and continue to work with Houston-based students as they require extensions for assignments. Many of our Houston-area staff and students have either flooded themselves or are in flooded neighborhoods.

We will continue to lift them up in prayer as the recovery is just beginning.

To help with recovery from Hurricane Harvey, LETU's Athletic Department has collected toiletries (toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, soap, feminine hygiene items), clothing of all sizes, baby clothes, blankets, formula, diapers, baby wipes and household essentials (toilet paper, paper towels, and bottled water) to send to the hurricane victims. One load has already been distributed, with another load being packed for distribution later this week.

LETU's Center for Counseling is collaborating with Student Life to reach out to students from the Houston and South Texas areas to offer support through Resident Life, as well. A dinner hosted for those students was held to help them process their experiences and share their current needs and concerns and how the Counseling Center can help support them in processing these events.

LETU's Missionary-In-Residence Ed Rothfus is organizing opportunities for students, faculty and staff to gather specific prayer requests and provide for opportunities for community prayer. Opportunities for service in relief and recovery efforts are being organized and will be made public in the days to come. Some students and staff members have already been involved in relief efforts and in providing needed supplies. Donations to help our current students/families who are directly affected by Hurricane Harvey can be made at www.letu.edu/Harvey.
