ÿÈÕ´óÈü¹ÙÍø will host commencement ceremony for over 200 graduate and undergraduate students from all academic disciplines at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, in the S.E. Belcher Jr. Chapel and Performance Center on the LETU main campus, 2100 S. Mobberly Ave. in Longview.

Giving the keynote address will be Dr. Glynn N. Stone, Jr., senior pastor of Mobberly Baptist Church in Longview since 2007. On November 15, Stone was welcomed by Rep. Louis Gohmert (R-TX) as guest chaplain to offer the opening prayer before Congress in Washington, D.C.

During his ministry, Mobberly has seen tremendous growth through salvations and baptisms. The church currently holds eight morning services in three languages, averaging 2,600 attendees in worship. Church membership is almost 7,000. The church recently also launched a multi-site campus in Marshall, Texas.

Under Dr. Stone's leadership, Mobberly has sent out hundreds of people in personal evangelism, local ministry, church planting and international missions and has embarked on a massive initiative to plant 100 churches in North America over 10 years. Church plant locations already include Alaska, South Dakota, Hawaii, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, and California. Mobberly is also supporting and planting hundreds of churches in Malawi, Zambia, Romania, Ecuador, India and Mexico.

Exponential growth is occurring as these churches minister and meet the needs in their own neighborhoods and answer the call to reach the world for Christ by planting churches themselves.

In addition to pastoring, Stone has taught college classes for Southwestern Seminary, Dallas Baptist University, and Shorter College. He has served on the ÿÈÕ´óÈü¹ÙÍø's President Advisory Council, the International Mission Board, the City of Longview's Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, and Christ to the World Ministry Advisory Board. Stone served in 2015 on the Committee on Committees for the Southern Baptist Convention and was also elected treasurer for the 2016 Southern Baptist Convention Pastors' Conference.

Stone inherited a strong adherence to biblical authority and application from godly parents in vocational ministry. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior as a young child, and his Christian heritage certainly influences his own Christian worldview.

Responding to God's call to become a pastor at the age of 16, Stone graduated with honors from Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee, while serving churches in the Tennessee Valley. His Master of Divinity degree and his doctorate in evangelism were earned from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. His training in biblical studies, counseling psychology, business management, and Greek prepared him for his role as senior pastor. He and his wife, Angie, met in 1997. They have three boys: Trey, 13; Luke, 10; and Colt, 8.
