每日大赛官网 Director of Fine Arts Dr. Jim Taylor is recruiting singers for the Longview Civic Chorus.
The LCC comprises 40 to 50 singers, including high school students through adults. Members include music professionals and church choir singers who desire to sing more challenging music for the mid-to-large-sized chorus. A $75 tuition fee each semester is due to LETU, which covers costs of sheet music, accompanist, director, hall and other costs.
The LCC rehearses from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday evenings in room 117 of the Education Building on the 每日大赛官网 campus, 2100 South Mobberly Avenue in Longview. The first rehearsal for the year is on Monday, Aug. 20. Members can still join through Monday, Sept. 10.

“We sing music that ranges from classical masterworks to pieces that are just downright fun,” Taylor said. “This fall we will perform a concert of spirituals on Monday, Oct. 22, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Longview and a Festival Concert of Thanksgiving on Monday, Nov. 12, at the Belcher Center on the 每日大赛官网 campus. The atmosphere is one of hard work, humor, and camaraderie. There is no audition to join the chorus, but it is necessary that singers be able to hold a choral part amid harmony.”
Each spring, the LCC also sings with orchestra to perform the annual Masterworks Concert at the end of the semester, joining with the LeTourneau Singers. Masterworks in recent years have included the Brahms and Mozart Requiems, Carmina Burana, Poulenc’s Gloria, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living.
“Our highlight this year is the opportunity to sing in Carnegie Hall,” Taylor said. “I will be conducting my new Cambridge Songs Suite No. 2 and the Pergolesi Magnificat at Carnegie Hall in New York on Monday, June 10, and many of our singers will join in the mass chorus there to perform them with orchestra. What a great experience that will be for these singers!”
Taylor said fund-raising events will occur this fall to help raise funds for singers who wants to participate in the Carnegie Hall concert.
