ÿÈÕ´óÈü¹ÙÍø will host a free, hour-long ‘Christmas Carol Sing’ for the public to participate in at 3:30 p.m. on the Sunday before Christmas on Dec. 23 in the historic Speer Chapel on the LETU campus, 2100 S. Mobberly Avenue in Longview. Singing will be led by Fine Arts Director and Associate Professor of Music Dr. Jim Taylor.
“When we held our Hymn Sing at the end of September, we discovered a strong desire for folks to join again at Christmas time to sing carols together,” Taylor said. “In our churches during a given Advent season, we often only get to sing a few Christmas carols. This event is a time when we can relax and enjoy these songs of the season.”
Song sheets will be provided, and requests can be made. Taylor, who is widely known in our area for singing and playing guitar, will also perform a few Christmas solos made popular by artists such as by James Taylor, Chris Rice, and others.
“By December 23, all the school concerts and church cantatas are done, distant family members may be in town, and it is a time you want to get together for family fun and closeness,” Taylor said. “Why not spend an hour on a Sunday afternoon singing carols and then go home to your home fire and hot chocolate?”
